Scottish Island On Sale For Just £325,000 Has A dim Past – UNILAD

A 29-acre island with an eerie past has reach up for sale – and the price isn’t as high as you’d probably expect.

The sparkling puny Ross – off the Meikle Ross headland on the south coast of Scotland – is domestic to a notorious lighthouse, keepers’ cottages, a harbour and pebble beach.

Included in the listing is a six-bedroom, B-listed cottage and courtyard. The island is also off the grid and runs on power generated by a small wind turbine and solar panels.

puny Ross, which is on the market for an incredibly objective £325,000, boasts even more land at low tide, although that additional land is actually owned by The Queen.

There is a bit of a catch, potential buyers will require their own boat or helicopter to score to and from the island – and the lighthouse is not included in the sale.

The island hit the headlines back in 1960 after relief lighthouse keeper Hugh Clark, 64, was found dead, after being shot in the head by the secretary of the local RNLI and his son who’d visited the island for lunch and a walk.

After a nationwide hunt, assistant keeper and sailor Robert Dickson, 24, was arrested and found guilty of murder.

He was initially sentenced to hang, but five days before he was due to be executed, the sentence was changed to life imprisonment. He later committed suicide.
